Shahida Shah is a documentary photographer based in the UK, passionate about storytelling and  shedding light on important issues like identity, injustice, and more recently, the challenges of loss from a daughter's perspective.  She documented her dad’s dementia journey from 2021 until his death in 2023, soon realising that these photographs were a way of preserving memories.
Inspired by renown photographers Paul Graham, Stephen DiRado, Mathew Finn and Jalal Shamsazaran, she combines film and digital photography using natural lighting. To get the perfect shot, Shahida has been known to travel within the UK and overseas where she waits for the ideal moment. As her photographs are connected to important issues, they could also educate viewers about how chronic conditions affect families.
